What is an IP address?
IP address (IP address, short for Internet Protocol Address) is a unique identifier (address) of a device (usually a computer) connected to a local network or the Internet.
An IP address is a 32-bit (IPv4) or 128-bit (IPv6) binary number. A convenient way to write an IP address (IPv4) is to write it as four decimal numbers (0 through 255) separated by dots, such as 192.168.0.1. (or 128.10.2.30, the traditional decimal form of address representation, and 10000000 00001010 00000010 00011110, the binary form of the same address representation).
